SCTI has one simple purpose: to advance member interests in the development and implementation of CleanTech, sustainable technologies, practices and policies.
We are a public / private partnership of businesses, non-profits and individuals who believe that we can build a future Solano County which balances the needs of businesses, residents and nature. The goal of our Association is to further establish Solano County as a leader in clean technology by providing education, business development opportunities and advocacy to (and for) local businesses and individuals.
While words are nice, they oftentimes bring confusion when they are not well understood. In our case, we’ve received numerous questions about “CleanTech” and “sustainable”. In order to bring clarity, we offer the following definitions:
CleanTech: is any product or servicethat improves operational performance, productivity or efficiency while reducing energy or water consumption, waste or environmental pollution, and making the lives of our residents better.
Sustainability: is the balance between consuming and renewing natural resourcesfor the long-term well-being of both nature and humansin terms of environmental, economic, and social dimensions
There is an implicit recognition that economic factors play a highly important role in establishing Solano County as a leader in CleanTech. If we do not have successful businesses, then they will not invest in CleanTech technologies and sustainable practices to the benefit of residents and the environment. Balance will be the key!
SCTI is open to all business types as well as residents. Whether it be a manufacturer, retailer or service provider, student or homeowner, entrepreneur or trade organization, all will find a welcome place in SCTI.
Finally, we hope that SCTI will become a central hub for the promotion of CleanTech products, services and practices for both businesses and residents. As we build SCTI, we’ll be offering an online knowledge base to assist members and build community, bi-monthly meetings to educate and inform members on subjects related to clean technologies, and an annual exposition to educate members on best practices, provide hands-on experiences and announce new product releases.
